Situated among rolling grasslands near the historic Santa Fe Trail, the park features an astronomy observatory and one of the most extensive dinosaur trackways in North America. The 170 surface-area lake, partnered with NM Game & Fish, is a winter resting area for waterfowl when bird watching is superb. Boating and fishing allowed March-October.

The Center serves as a social gathering place and offers many services to eligible seniors. Open Mon.-Fri. 7am-3pm, Exercise Class: Mon.-Fri. 7am-8am, Meals served Mon.-Fri. from 12pm-1pm. Home delivery hours are from 11am-12:45pm. Recreation offered Mon.-Fri. 12:30pm-3pm. Bingo is the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Finger food at 5:30pm the 4th Tuesday of every month.
